Samuel Buck

British painter and printmaker best known for his detailed topographical engravings. Along with his brother Nathaniel Buck, he produced the celebrated series Buck’s Antiquities and Buck’s Views, which documented castles, monasteries, towns, and landscapes across England and Wales. These works remain important historical records of Britain’s architectural and urban heritage in the 18th century. Buck’s precise and systematic style helped establish topographical engraving as both an artistic and documentary tradition.
