Two faces, line and color

One face looks forward while the other turns in profile. Fine black contours define their features and hair, set against broad areas of yellow, orange-red and black. The contrast between delicate drawing and flat color gives the two portraits a direct, graphic presence.

A closer view

The unframed view brings the contours and color relationships into focus. A horizontal orange-red band crosses the lower part of the left portrait, while a curved passage of the same color follows the right figure’s shoulder. The central black shape separates the pale faces, and the yellow background connects the composition.
